I know I probably seem a little bit self obsessed with the additions to my blog, but in complete honesty the reality is the complete opposite. I’m so hungry and passionate, that I feel this is the way I can only really connect with the client/user/viewer/student on an honest level that you don’t often see behind many closed doors. In my career, I don’t think I have ever felt so motivated, so much is happening at the moment. You’re probably asking the question, what does all of this have to do with the uniqlo shot above? Well, this is very similar to a concept I am working on in papervision for the new website which will be unveiled later this year. Alongside this, another exciting project is a study for Pepsi working with Nasko Fejza, previous Brand Manager of Rockstar Games. It’s probably time to carry on ‘doing’ rather than ’saying’ so hopefully in a few months you will be seeing something new…

One of the projects, I have been constantly working on since September last year has won an FWA Award. Volkswagen.co.uk has transformed into a literally gigantic site, and it’s great to see everyones hard work and effort rewarded on the FWA.

A lot has happened in the last six months, so much in fact sometimes it’s almost impossible to keep up to date. Sometimes I also find working an average of 18 hours a day doesn’t give me time to really stop and think, or sleep. So, with a little thought, some new clients, projects and even partnerships, I think it’s time to evolve. Working remotely with a small handful of people, the current site feels too much like a portfolio with regards to generating new clients and leads on a site ‘face value’ purpose only. So following that, hopefully this year, a new version (yes another) of Thinkdust.com will be launched with updated work, case studies and a more ’solid’ approach to showcasing the kind of work produced. Thinkdust will still retain a similar look and feel, however this will be really pushed and driven forward in a much more disciplined manor. Making sure everything from compliment slips to contact pages are as solid and developed as possible. More to come on this later in the year…

The last two weeks have probably been the most challenging two weeks of my life. I decided to work out exactly where my time has gone, shown in the graph above. I’ve worked on average of around 18 - 19 hours a day, and also have managed 9 individual projects including 2 websites, 2 brand guidelines, 1 identity, a billboard, 1 online magazine, asset production, and art direction. I decided to total up what the last 14 days have comprised of, and the results are above.

We’ve been working closely over the last two months with Tony Ariawan on a few exciting projects. This 28 year old designer from Indonesia is exceptionally talented and continues blow people away every time he unveils a new project. It’s a pleasure to welcome Tony as one of the new remote key members of Thinkdust, who I am sure we will continue to work with for many years. You can preview some of his incredible work on his website area105

I’ve just finished working on a very tough project with the guys over at Tribal DDB. The brief was to celebrate St.Patrick’s day with Guinness, and launch three microsites over an English, Spanish, and French platform. With a deadline of just 4 weeks, 3 individual microsites, 3 emails, and a flash file that would make any G4 literally explode, with a lot of hard work we all managed to get this live.

We’re currently about to start a very exciting collaboration project with Paris studio HelloHikimori. This project is a typographic based one, and should result in something very special. HKI™ have really thrown out a very unique style into the industry over the last couple of years, creating a wide range of work for clients including MTV, and Nokia. One of their recent projects even won an FWA award which makes it even more challenging and thrilling in which to be working with them. I’ll keep you posted on this over the next coming weeks…

I recently created a tutorial for Computer Arts Projects magazine on how to create a simple yet effective brand identity in black & white. This has now gone live on the Computers Arts website, and for all those who missed the magazines tutorial you can view it here.
